Mt Kumatori (雲取山)

Mt. Kumotori, also known as "cloud grabber mountain," is the highest point in Tokyo, located at the border of Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi prefectures, with an elevation of 2,017 meters. Mt. Kumotori is easily accessed from central Tokyo and the hiking network stretch over 20KMs.

The summit is the highest point in Tokyo is known as "cloud grabber mountain". Located within the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park at the border of Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi prefectures. Is one of the Japan’s 100 most famous mountains and is easily accessed from central Tokyo. The hiking network stretch over 20KMs with many courses available. Most of them take considerable amount of time so it is common for lodging for the night. I wanted to finish the hike in a day, so I took the shortest distance up the summit and back from Kamosawa trailhead near Lake Okutama (Okutama-ko).

“The life would have been easier had I not learned to challenge my own fears, had I not considered other possibilities, had I believed everything I was told (including things that was coming from my own brain). But easy has never been the point., if I didn’t take that first step out of my comfort zone, I couldn’t have traveled in 38 countries, I couldn’t have sailed across Atlantic, I couldn’t have cycled across US, Mexico &Japan, I couldn’t have worked in half a dozen of countries, and I couldn’t have done so many things I’ve done. If I had believed what I was told and let my own fears dictate my life, what boring life it would have been”
